You are The Cap'n!

Some men are born great, some achieve greatness and some slit the throats of any man that stands between them and the mantle of power. You never met a man you couldn't eviscerate. Not that mindless violence is the only avenue open to you - but why take an avenue when you have complete freeway access? You are the definitive Man of Action. You are James Bond in a blousy shirt and drawstring-fly pants. Your swash was buckled long ago and you have never been so sure of anything in your life as in your ability to bend everyone to your will. You will call anyone out and cut off their head if they show any sign of taking you on or backing down. You cannot be saddled with tedious underlings, but if one of your lieutenants shows an overly developed sense of ambition he may find more suitable accommodations in Davy Jones' locker. That is, of course, IF you notice him. You tend to be self absorbed - a weakness that may keep you from seeing enemies where they are and imagining them where they are not.

Orange County
This is the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. Jack Black is perfect as the stoner brother, and Colin Hanks does a more than respectable job as a high school senior desperate to escape his crazy, yet loving family and chase his dream of becoming a writer at Stanford. The cast is outstanding in each of their roles. John Lithgow is a riot, and there is a fantastic cameo by Kevin Kline (who is perfect in everything he does.) A must-see flick!

you are deeppink
#FF1493

Your dominant hues are red and magenta. You love doing your own thing and going on your own adventures, but there are close friends you know you just can't leave behind. You can influence others on days when you're patient, but most times you just want to go out, have fun, and do your own thing.

Your saturation level is high - you get into life and have a strong personality. Everyone you meet will either love you or hate you - either way, your goal is to get them to change the world with you. You are very hard working and don't have much patience for people without your initiative.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

Interview questions are designed to make people lie. Why would you possibly highlight something you do poorly in that situation? Why do I think I'm the best for this position? How will I lead the team to success? Describe my level of business savvy and how I exhibit those qualities on a daily basis. Grrrrrr!

Caveat emptor
Obsession?
What constitutes an obsession? Two of my employees are embroiled in the drama of unrequited love and a borderline obsession. Constant unwanted attention, phone calls, emails. Showing up at work when one is scheduled, waiting in the parking lot after dark, small tokens of affection. She doesn't want the attention, has attempted to dissuade it by being firm, yet polite. He is showing signs of instability. Scary, yet real. And I am left with the responsibility of sorting this drama out before it becomes something you all can read about in the papers. Moral of the blog? Want what you have, and you shall have what you want. And knowing your state's stalking statutes before embarking on an Victorian-esque love obsession would be helpful.

What is life if not a series of choices?
I often wonder why life takes us where it does. Is it destiny, kismet, fate? Or do we create our "destiny" through free will? I find myself telling people, "Things happen for a reason," and "I'll end up where I'm supposed to be." But do I actually believe I have no control over my future? Human beings are blessed with the gift of free will, of conscious choice to create their todays and tomorrows. In my opinion, people all too often blame the fates when they should blame themselves. Life is what you make it, plain and simple. Could I have achieved more? Been happier? Avoided misfortune? Yes. Did I choose the wrong road at times? Again, yes. But if I had the chance for a "do-over" I wouldn't take it. I like where I am, who I am, and what I am. To take a different road would make a different version of "me" with no guarantees. Moral of the blog? Embrace what you have, and take steps to make today and tomorrow all that you desire.
